Ingredients

Potatoes
  • 4 medium Russet potatoes peeled and thinly sliced
Cream Sauce
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter for the sauce
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour for thickening
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Cheese
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Method

Prepare the Potatoes
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Peel and thinly slice the Russet potatoes using a knife or mandoline.
Make the Cream Sauce

  3. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Remove from heat and stir in half of the cheddar and Parmesan cheese until melted.
Assemble and Bake
  1. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish. Pour half of the cream sauce over the potatoes.
  2. Repeat with the remaining potatoes and cream sauce. Top with the remaining cheddar and Parmesan cheese.
  3. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
