  • 1 lb Ground Lamb or Beef Opt for ground lamb for authenticity.
  • 1 medium Onion Finely chopped.
  • 2 medium Carrots Diced.
  • 1 cup Peas Frozen.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Fresh minced.
  • 1 cup Vegetable or Beef Broth Low-sodium recommended.
  • 4 cups Mashed Potatoes Creamy and buttery.
  • to taste Salt & Pepper Essential seasonings.
  • 1 tsp Dried Thyme
  • 1 tsp Dried Rosemary
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil or Butter For sautéing.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Start by heating olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions and minced garlic until they turn translucent and fragrant.
  2. Toss in your choice of ground lamb or beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon.
  3. Add diced carrots and frozen peas to the pan along with salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary. Cook until vegetables soften slightly.
  4. Pour in vegetable or beef broth, stirring everything together. Allow it to simmer gently for about 10 minutes until thickened slightly.
  5. In a separate pot, boil peeled potatoes until fork-tender. Drain them well before mashing with butter and cream until silky smooth.
  6. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a baking dish, layer your savory meat mixture at the bottom before spreading fluffy mashed potatoes on top. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
