- 1. Boil the pasta: Fill a large pot with salted water and bring it to a rolling boil. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
- 2. Prepare the sauce: In a skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in the halved cherry tomatoes until softened.
- 3. Combine: Reserve ½ cup of pasta water before draining the spaghetti. Add drained spaghetti to the skillet with the garlic-tomato mixture.
- 4. Create creaminess: Gradually pour reserved pasta water into the skillet while tossing to create a silky sauce.
- 5. Season: Mix in fresh basil leaves and red pepper flakes (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 6. Serve: Plate the spaghetti and top generously with grated Parmesan cheese. Drizzle with additional olive oil if desired.
