Delicious pasta shells filled with a creamy ricotta cheese mixture, baked in marinara sauce and topped with mozzarella cheese.

Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 12 pieces jumbo pasta shells
Filling
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese plus extra for topping
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Sauce
  • 2 cups marinara sauce

Method
 

Prepare the pasta
  1. Cook the jumbo pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Make the filling
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Stuff the shells
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Fill each cooked pasta shell with the ricotta mixture and place them in a baking dish.
Add sauce and bake
  1. Pour marinara sauce over the stuffed shells and sprinkle with additional mozzarella cheese. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes until cheese is bubbly.

Notes

Let the stuffed shells cool for a few minutes before serving. They can be garnished with fresh basil if desired.
