Cake Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour the cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting and Assembly
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, alternating with heavy cream and vanilla extract, until smooth and fluffy.
- Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a cake board. Spread a layer of frosting on top.
- Place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
- Use food coloring to create designs on the cake, resembling Star Wars themes.
- Decorate with Star Wars figurines and sprinkle with edible glitter if desired.

Notes
For best results, use room temperature ingredients and allow the cake to chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes after frosting to set.
