Ingredients

  • 1 box vanilla cake mix
  • cup vanilla icing
  • 12 oz white candy melts
  • to taste mini chocolate chips for eyes & buttons
  • to taste orange sprinkles or orange candy melts for nose

Equipment

  • Microwave
  • Oven
  • Cake pop sticks
  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking dishes
  • Freezer

Method

  1. Prepare cake batter according to package directions. Pour the batter into two greased 8×8-inch round cake dishes and bake in a 350 degree F oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely, then crumble it with a fork in a large bowl. Stir the frosting into the crumbled cake.
  2. Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into smooth balls, aiming for two different sizes to create the snowman head and body. Freeze balls for 20 minutes or until firm.
  3. Melt the white candy melts in the microwave in 30-second intervals. Dip cake pop sticks into the melted chocolate, then stick into the small frozen cake ball. Dip the cake pop stick into the chocolate again, then add the larger ball to make the snowman shape.
  4. Freeze again for 10 minutes.
  5. Dip each snowman into the white chocolate, making sure they are fully coated. Allow excess chocolate to drip off.
  6. While the chocolate is still wet, attach mini chocolate chips for eyes and buttons and an orange sprinkle for the nose.
  7. Let set for 10-15 minutes and enjoy!
