Prepare the Patties
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and gently form them into loose balls. Do not overwork the meat.
Cook the Burgers
- Preheat the griddle or skillet over high heat until very hot. Place the beef balls on the hot surface and immediately smash them down with a spatula to form thin patties.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the edges are browned and crispy. Flip the patties, add a slice of cheese if desired, and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted.
Assemble the Burgers
- Toast the burger buns on the griddle for about 1 minute. Assemble the burgers by placing the patty on the bottom bun, followed by lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
