For the Dough
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour essential for structure
  • 1 packet active dry yeast helps bread rise

  • 2 large eggs provides richness
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil keeps bread moist
For the Colorful Fillings

For the Egg Wash
  • 1 tablespoon water or milk thins out egg yolk

Method
 

Making the Dough
  1. Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix in the eggs and melted butter. Stir until well combined, then gradually add the flour and salt.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Rise the dough in a greased bowl covered with a damp cloth for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Coloring and Shaping
  1. Divide the risen dough into six equal pieces. Color each piece with food coloring.
  2. Roll each colored piece into long strands about 12 inches long. Layer them together and braid them gently.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the braided dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown on top and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
