- Preheat oven to 225 degrees and an electric griddle to 350 degrees (or a non-stick skillet over medium heat).
- In a shallow dish, whisk together pumpkin, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves until well combined. Pour in half and half and whisk until well blended.
- Dip bread into the egg mixture allowing it to soak in, then turn and soak the opposite side.
- Butter the griddle area where you'll place the slice of French toast, then top with the soaked French toast.
- Cook until golden brown on the bottom for several minutes, then lift, butter the griddle again, and flip the French toast to the opposite side to cook until golden brown.
- Transfer slices to the oven on the oven rack and keep warm for up to 10 minutes.
- Serve warm with maple syrup if desired.
