Ingredients

  • 160 g strong bread flour
  • 190 g 0% fat Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 small egg beaten, for brushing

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking tray
  • parchment paper
  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling Pin

Method

  1. Pre-heat oven to 180ºC (350ºF). Line a baking tray with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Set aside about 10g or 1 tbsp of flour. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and yogurt. Mix until it forms a dough.
  3. Transfer the dough to a flat surface, sprinkle with the reserved flour, and knead for a couple of minutes until it forms a soft ball.
  4. Divide the dough into 4 equal smaller balls.
  5. Form each bagel by rolling the dough into a long, roughly 8-inch rope and squeezing the ends together or by flattening a ball into a disc and poking a hole in the middle.
  6. Transfer the formed bagels to a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush each bagel with the egg and sprinkle any seasonings if using.
  7. Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  8. Allow the bagels to cool for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
