Cake Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and Earl Grey tea leaves.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until combined.
- Add the heavy cream, vanilla extract, and dried lavender. Beat on high speed until fluffy.
- Once the cake is completely cooled, frost the top and sides with the lavender frosting.
- Decorate with additional dried lavender if desired.
