Holy Cow Cake

Holy Cow Cake

Each bite of holy cow cake delivers ultra-moist chocolate cake, gooey caramel sauce, and pops of crunchy toffee—all balanced by a cloud of light whipped topping.
Total Time 3 hours 50 minutes
Servings: 12

Ingredients

  • Cooking spray
  • 1 (13.25-oz.) pkg. devils food cake mix (such as Duncan Hines)
  • 1 1/4 cups tap water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 (14-oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup caramel topping
  • 1/4 cup hot fudge topping, warmed (from 1 [11.5-oz.] jar) (such as Hershey's)
  • 3/4 cup toffee bits, divided
  • 1 (8-oz.) pkg. frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • Chocolate shavings

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat the bottom only of a 13- x 9-inch baking dish or pan with cooking spray; set aside. Gather all ingredients.
  2. Beat together cake mix, water, oil, and eggs in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed until well combined, about 2 minutes. Spread batter evenly in prepared baking dish.
  3. Bake in preheated oven until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out with a few crumbs attached, 28 to 30 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, whisk together sweetened condensed milk and caramel topping in a medium bowl until smooth; set aside.
  5. While cake is still warm, use blunt end of a wooden skewer to poke holes all over surface of the cake at about 1/2-inch intervals. Slowly pour and spread condensed milk mixture over cake, making sure to fill all holes. Let cool completely in pan on a wire rack, about 1 hour. Cover and refrigerate until cool, at least 2 hours or up to 12 hours.
  6. Remove cake from refrigerator. Drizzle with hot fudge topping, and sprinkle evenly with 1/2 cup of the toffee bits. Spread whipped topping evenly over top of cake, and sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup toffee bits. Garnish with chocolate shavings. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate for up to 4 days.

Notes

Poking holes in the warm cake allows the sweetened condensed milk and caramel mixture to seep deep into the cake, creating a moist and flavorful treat. This technique enhances the cake's texture, ensuring that every bite is infused with rich sweetness, making it a truly unforgettable dessert.
