Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup sloppy joe sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 8 slices thick-cut bread sourdough or Texas toast
  • 8 slices American cheese or sharp cheddar
  • Optional: Dill pickles for topping

Method
 

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in the sloppy joe sauce and simmer on low heat for 5 minutes.
  3. In another skillet, butter one side of each slice of bread and toast until golden brown.
  4. Flip half the toasted slices, layer with cheese and sloppy joe mixture, then top with remaining bread slices.
  5. Grill sandwiches until cheese melts and both sides are golden brown (about 3 minutes per side).
  6. Serve hot, optionally topped with pickles.
