Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 1 package (12- to 14-ounce) cocktail-sized smoked sausages or little smokies
  • 1 can (8-ounce) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • Flaky salt or everything bagel seasoning for sprinkling (optional)

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking sheet
  • parchment paper
  • Small bowl
  • Whisk

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 375ºF and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water until combined. Pat the sausages dry with paper towels.
  3. Unroll the crescent roll dough on a surface. Cut it into 24 triangles by slicing each triangle lengthwise into 3 narrow triangles.
  4. Place a sausage at the wide end of each triangle and roll it up towards the pointed end, overlapping the dough. Place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
  5. Brush tops and sides of the rolled dough with the egg wash and sprinkle with flaky salt or seasoning if desired.
  6. Bake for 13 to 15 minutes, until the dough is puffed and golden brown. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For added variety, try using different types of sausages or experiment with spices to enhance the flavor. These treats store well and can be reheated to retain their flakiness.
