Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 6 hot dogs beef, turkey, or veggie
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Method
 

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or fryer over medium heat (about 350°F/175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, and sugar until combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk; then add to the dry ingredients and stir until smooth.
  4. Skewer each hot dog with a wooden stick.
  5. Dip each hot dog into the batter until fully coated.
  6. Carefully lower into the hot oil and fry for about 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels before serving.
