Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water 110°F
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ cup baking soda
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling

Method
 

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water and yeast; let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Gradually add sugar, salt, and flour to form dough. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for about an hour until doubled.
  4. Preheat oven to 450°F. Divide dough into eight pieces; roll each into ropes and shape into pretzels.
  5. Boil water in a pot; add baking soda. Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds per side before transferring to parchment-lined sheets.
  6. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or coarse sea salt. Bake for about 12 minutes until golden brown.
