Ingredients
  

Base and Topping
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet
Caramel Layer
  • 1 cup caramel sauce store-bought or homemade

Method
 

Prepare the Base
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Spread half of the batter into the prepared baking pan.
Add Caramel and Bake
  1. Pour the caramel sauce evenly over the batter in the pan.
  2. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter over the caramel layer.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  4. Allow to cool in the pan before cutting into bars.

Notes
