  • 1 egg Egg Wash (optional) Mix with a splash of water for finish

Method

Activate Your Yeast
  1. Combine warm water and sugar in a bowl. Sprinkle active dry yeast over it and let it rest for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
Mixing Dough Magic
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture and knead until you form a smooth dough.
Knead Like You Mean It
  1. Transfer your dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until elastic.
Let It Rise
  1. Place your dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover it with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled.
Shape Your Bagels
  1. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal portions. Roll each piece into a ball and poke a hole through the center to form bagels.
Boil & Bake Time!
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Boil each bagel in salted water for about 1 minute per side before placing them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
