Ingredients
  

Blackening Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper adjust for spice preference
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Salmon Fillets
  • 4 fillets salmon about 6 ounces each
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for cooking

Method
 

Prepare the Blackening Seasoning
  1. In a small bowl, combine paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, oregano, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.
Prepare the Salmon
  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Rub each fillet generously with the blackening seasoning on both sides.
  2. Heat olive oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
Cook the Salmon
  1. Place the seasoned salmon fillets in the hot skillet, skin side down. Cook for about 4-5 minutes until the skin is crispy.
  2. Carefully flip the fillets and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
