Ingredients
  

  • 4 beef cube steaks about 1 lb total
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Method
 

  1. Pat the beef cube steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper, then lightly dust with flour.
  2. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Add the seasoned steaks to the hot skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. Remove the steaks and set aside. In the same pan, add sliced onions and sauté until softened.
  5. Stir in garlic powder and beef broth, scraping up any browned bits from the pan.
  6. Return the steaks to the skillet, spooning gravy over them. Simmer for a few minutes until heated through.
